What is NEET UG? Things You Must Know About CBSE NEET 2017




NEET - National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is an entrance test conducted for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in medical and dental institutes in India. It was first conducted in 2013 then in 2016 and now again in 2017. The decision to welcome NEET as the only entrance exam was taken by The Honourable Supreme Court Of India to reduce the pressure and stress students went through as a result of appearing in multiple PMT entrance exams and also to save money which was being paid for applying to various PMT Exams . While many state governments welcomed the decision to conduct NEET, Tamil Nadu has sought the President's intervention to exempt students from the state from appearing in the exam. Also, Maharashtra appealed not to conduct NEET for Maharashtra candidates as the previous PMT pattern of this state is not exactly as NEET syllabus and pattern.


In 2017, NEET UG exam was conducted on May 7. Students with Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible for it. In the light of Cbse NEET, there are few points you must know.

1.    The entrance exam is scheduled on a Sunday that is May 7.
2.    According to the official notification, NEET UG result will be declared on June 8, 2017.
3.    The exam will be a three hour test conducted in pen-paper mode.
4.    You do not need to carry a pen to their examination centre, as it will be provided by the board in the examination hall.
5.    You should carry your admit card with a colored passport size photograph, and postcard size photograph pasted on the proforma.
6.    After NEET UG 2017 result is declared, the counselling procedure will be held for 15% All India Quota seats and State seats.
7.    There will be a centralized counselling for 15% All India Quota seats conducted by MCC. For the rest of the seats, state governments will hold a separate counselling.
8.    Apart from English, the question paper will also be in nine Indian languages.
9.    The question paper will be objective in nature and have 180 questions.
10.    The maximum number of question would be in the Biology section which will have 45 questions each from Zoology and Botany. #
11.   Rest 90 questions would be asked from Physics and Chemistry (45 in each)
12.   There are few barred items you cannot wear while appearing for NEET Exam.
